After a historic, maiden T20 World cup win, Australians are gathering accolades, especially the opening batsman David Warner who came into the tournament with a questionable form, after having a tussle with his IPL franchise team. The opener played only a few matches before being made to sit out for the remainder of the 2021 IPL. Fans wondered why the explosive batsman wasn’t in the playing eleven. Warner was earlier dropped from the captaincy and then from the playing eleven.

SRH, is now facing backlash from the cricketing fans as Warner won the man of the match tournament. He played a crucial knock in the semi-final and finals. Now SRH’s assistant coach has clarified that Warner was not dropped from the team due to cricketing reasons.

Circumstances were out of control: Brad Haddin

While speaking on a podcast, Haddin clarified that Warner’s form was never in question before dropping him off the playing eleven. He hinted that there were circumstances that were out of control of the coaches, which is why Warner was made to sit in the dugouts.

Haddin confirmed that the opener was out of match practice, however was in good space while coming into the tournament and that he was hitting the ball well. Hadding backs the dashing southpaw opener that all he needed in the IPL was some match time. As the WC tournament progressed, he regained his rhythm and went on to play crucial innings for his country.

It was under Warner’s leadership that SRH won their only IPL title. The opener scored 289 runs in the tournament which included three half-centuries and a top score of 89 runs. Warner has stated earlier that he is available for a new franchise and that he is unlikely to be retained by the SRH franchise.
