Speaking on the eve of the final, Australia captain Aaron Finch credits the losing game against England for making them more aggressive in the matches after that. Australia, despite losing their skipper in the first over against Pakistan, played fearlessly and took on calculated risks to stay near the required run rate. Speaking on the eve of the final, the Aussies captain believes that the rivalry against New Zealand is similar to that of against the England cricket team.

Speaking to Skysports, the Aussie skipper reveals that the NZ team has their bases all covered with powerful openers and a reliable middle-order whereas their bowlers are capable of swinging the ball in the initial conditions. The captain added that both the teams had similar semi-finals in the past. Upon being asked why Australia hasn’t been able to win the T20 WC till now, finch believes the lack of T20 cricket for the team is a big factor in why they haven’t won the cup yet.

The chase against Pakistan in the semi-final seemed out of reach for the Australians until a late blitz from Stoinis and Matthew Wade took them over the line with an over to spare. Wade, in particular, smashed three sixes of Shaheen Shah Afridi, who till then has tormented the batsmen in the T20 WC, especially the right-handers with his fast in-swinger.

Finch was asked whether the loss against England in the initial stages of WC made them aggressive in their approach, finch agreed that the loss made them want to play a more aggressive brand of cricket and make the team heavy in the batting department.
