ICC on Tuesday announced the host nations for various ICC events till 2031. Pakistan has been awarded the hosting of Champions Trophy in 2025 whereas India will host multiple ICC events till 2031.
Reacting on the news of the Champions Trophy returning to Pakistan, the PCB chairman took to Youtube and elaborated that now Pakistan will look to deliver not only a world-class event but also a world-class team. After the 2009 terrorist attacks on the Sri Lankan team, cricket teams have been hesitant to tour Pakistan.
NewZealand was set to tour Pakistan in September and October 2021. They came and practised, however just hours before the first T20, decided to go away, citing the ‘security alert’ by their government. England too decided to cancel their tour of Pakistan citing security reasons. However, Tom Harrison, the CEO of England Cricket Board visited Pakistan a few days back and assured the PCB of 2022 tour with two additional T20s.
New Zealand too are on talks to tour Pakistan in 2022. Raja expressed gratefulness to ICC for expressing their faith and confidence to Pakistan for hosting an elite tournament. The PCB chairman released a statement and ensured that the host nation will deliver a world-class event.
USA and West Indies will host the 2024 T20 Men’s WC whereas India and Sri Lanka will host the 2026 T20 WC. The ICC this time has allocated the T20 Men’s World Cup after every two years. The T20 Men’s World Cup in Dubai returned after five years from 2016 in India.
Australia and New Zealand will host the 2028 T20 Men’s WC. India will be hosting the 2029 Champions Trophy. The 2030 T20 Men’s WC will be hosted by England, Ireland and Scotland and the 50 over 2031 Men’s WC will be hosted by India and Bangladesh.
