If there is one name that the Pakistan fans will not forget a name for a long time, it is likely to be Matthew Wade. Wade and Stonis took the game away from Pakistan with their late onslaught. While Hasan Ali dropped a crucial catch of Wade, Shaheen conceded three consecutive sixes and therefore the match too.
There has been lots of talk in the Pakistan cricketing fraternity about what went wrong in the 19th over. While some believed that catch was the turning point of the match, the likes of Waqar Younis and Shahid Afridi believed that Shaheen Shah Afridi should have bowled a lot better.
On Samaa TV, the anchor brought up an interesting fact that Wade had scored the bulk of his runs on leg side only, therefore, why the bowlers didn’t bowl him on off-side, to which Shahid Afridi gave a cheeky response that Pakistan Team Management may not have discussed Wade in the team meetings as he didn’t perform earlier like this.
The former Pakistani cricketer commented that Australia has tried Wade on many positions but that the cricketer has not delivered before. However, Afridi did praise the batsman saying that he made the most of the pace from the bowler, which allowed him to get under the ball and hit the ball over the fine leg. Afridi do believe that Shaheen should have bowled better and that the line of the bowl should have been a yorker length outside the off stump.
