Australia won their 1st T20 World Cup against New Zealand in Dubai. This was the only trophy that they had not won before. Chasing 173, the men from Down under chased it comfortably with Warner and Mitchell Marsh taking the attack to the oppositions from the initial overs. While Australia lost their skipper cheaply, they always looked to have their noses ahead in the final.
After the match, the video went viral on social media where Australians were celebrating. During one such instance, Matthew Wade, who hit Shaheen Afridi for three sixes, was seen pouring the beer into the shoe and then drinking it. Even the all-rounder Marcus Stoinis did the same.
Terming the celebration as ‘disgusting’, Shoaib Akhtar tweeted about it.
On the defeat to Australia, Shoaib Akhtar believes that New Zealand needs to bring in ruthlessness to win the finals. According to him, the ‘extra craziness’ is what brings the trophies. Akhtar previously stated that he was expecting Babar Azam to be the Man of the Tournament. However, the ICC selection committee handed it over to David Warner for his special knocks in the crunch game against Pakistan and New Zealand.
