Ravi Shastri Inspiring Speech as he signs off as Head Coach


BCCI has shared a video where Ravi Shastri is seen giving his final speech. He mentioned the highs and the lows that the team has gone together, especially in the covid times. Shastri stated that life is not always about accomplishments but also about overcoming obstacles. The departing coach has been with the Indian team on and off since 2007 and came on board as the full-time coach in the year 2017 after Kumble stepped away from the head coach position.

The departing coach emphasized that the team has achieved great results over the last five years and that the records are there for everyone to see. He did mention that while the team may not have won the ICC tournament, but the beauty of sport is that there is always another chance to win tournaments. He stated that the team will be wiser and more experienced in the coming tournaments.

In one of the most inspiring speeches as a coach, Ravi Shastri heaped praises on the Indian Cricket team and stated that the team has achieved more than his expectations. Under Shastri, India reached the Champions Trophy final, reached the semis of the WC 2019, achieved no.1 test ranking, made it to the World Test Championship final in 2021, defeated Australia in 2018 and 2021 in their own backyards, and almost came to winning the Test series against England after 2007, had luck would have favoured India in the series.

Coaching or Commentary

Shastri has confirmed previously that he is likely to take a coaching or commentary job after his tenure as coach. He is right now 59 years of age. BCCI guidelines have restricted the age limit of coaches to be sixty. Keeping in mind the 2023 world cup in India, Ravi Shastri did not wanted to extend his contract after the 2021 world cup campaign.
