Indian coach Rahul Dravid has praised the Indian test skipper for keeping the morale of the team-high. The team won their first test in Centurion and Kohli was seen in good touch. The last 20 days have been difficult for Kohli as he was and still is involved in the much-talked-about captaincy debacle.
Dravid heaped praises of Kohli. “I know there’s been a lot of noise on other issues outside of the group, even leading into this particular Test match. But honestly, in terms of keeping the morale high, it’s not been very difficult because it’s been led by the skipper himself,” Rahul Dravid
The BCCI dethroned Kohli from ODI captaincy on the 8th of December. Ganguly later revealed the reason that the selectors were not in favor of split-captaincy in a shorter format and that he personally requested Kohli to not relinquish the T20 captain.
Kohli however refuted the claims in his press conference on 15th December and said that his decision was rather considered as a ‘progressive’ step by the officials. Chetan Sharma, a few days ago revealed that Kohli was indeed requested by the BCCI but the player did not heed their request.
Fans on social media were furious with the way Kohli was being demoted as many believe that the player has a significant great record as the captain. Rohit Sharma is the new ODI captain but he will be missing the ODI series in South Africa due to his hamstring in the left leg. Coach Dravid believes that Kohli is in good form and soon will be scoring big runs. The second test will start from the 3rd of January and India will look to take an unassailable lead and therefore win their first test series in South Africa.
