The Australian fast bowling legend has tested positive just days before the fourth test match at Sydney. The Sydney test is known as the Pink Test in memory of Glenn’s late wife Jane, who succumbed to breast cancer in 2008. The funds from the 3rd day of the test match are donated for the research purpose to combat the dreaded disease.

“Glenn has had a PCR test which unfortunately returned a positive result. We wish Glenn and his family good health,” McGrath Foundation chief executive Holly Masters said. Mcgrath is expected to join the match virtually though or if he is able to test negative in time, he is likely to be present at the venue on the third day of the test match.

The Mcgrath Foundation came into existence in 2005 when Glenn’s wife Jane Mcgrath was diagnosed with breast cancer. Since then, the foundation has pledged to provide support to breast cancer patients across Australia and have notable sporting personalities to support their cause. The likes of Adam Gilchrist, Virat Kohli, Ellyse Perry have noted personalities who lend their support to the foundation.

Australia has already obtained an unassailable lead of 3 – 0 in the Ashes and is looking to whitewash the England side whereas England will be playing for some pride under the coaching of Graeme Thorpe as their head coach Silverwood is in isolation due to a family member turning out positive.
