Ind SA 2021, J P Duminy lauds the Indian team for their 2021 performance

2021 has given plenty of highs and lows for Team India. But their overall performance, especially in the Test format has earned them praises from all corners of Cricket. India won the Centurion test by 113 runs and J P Duminy was all praise for Team India. Speaking to cricket.com, Duminy acknowledged that India has done remarkably well in the Test Arena in 2021. The side bounced back from 36 all-out fiasco in Adelaide and bounced back hard with a depleted side to win the series 2 – 1. India has now defeated Australia twice in their backyard in 2019 and 2021.

India then went on to hammer the English side in the home series by 3 -1. Lots of talks were then about India preparing rank turners to bamboozle the touring side and playing to their advantage however, critics lauded that it was one of the most entertaining test series as the batsmen were heavily tested against quality spin bowling.

India although lost the Test championship final to New Zealand at Lords but came back strongly against England in their own backyard, especially in the second test match at Lords where India was down and out at the beginning of the 5th day but emerged as victorious by bowling England out within 60 overs. Then the match at Kennington Oval was heading towards a draw on the fifth day but India again bowled out England on a flat pitch. The fifth test match was postponed due to the Covid outbreak in the Indian camp. It should also be noted that India was on the verge of winning the 1st test match as they needed close to 150 runs only a flat track of TrentBridge but the rain gods interfered and devoid India of a certain win.

India defeated New Zealand in the home series and have now registered their maiden win in Centurion. The striking thing about this Indian team is their bowlers who are not only able to take wickets at crucial times but also keep the runs at bay.

Indian team looks poise to win the South African test series this time, which is the final frontier for Team India as they have never won there before. The second and third test match will start from 3rd and 11th of January respectively.
