Pakistan has been going through a dream from the T20 World Cup. The side not only defeated India for the first time in the WC campaign but also reached the semis and exceeded the hopes of the cricket fans of the nation. They defeated Bangladesh in both the T20 and Test series and then clinched the T20 home series against the West Indies. In a press conference conducted by the PCB Chairman, Ramiz Raja answered questions from the media. During one of the questions, Ramiz Raja revealed that Matthew Hayden will be the consulting coach of Pakistan for the 2022 T20 World cup. Matthey Hayden was the batting consultant coach for the Pakistani side during the UAE T20 World cup.
On the end of period of Interim coaches like Saqlain Mushtaq
The PCB Chairman heaped praises on Saqlian Mushtaq for the work but revealed that PCB is not in favor of long-term contracts for the coaches. Pakistan dealt a major blow before the T20 World Cup when the likes of Misbah Ul Haq and Waqar Younis resigned just days before the World Cup. Hayden and Saqlain Mushtaq were then appointed as the coaches for the men in green side.
Pakistan batting performed well in crunch situations of the T20 World Cup under the guidance of Matthew Hayden and Ramiz Raja confirmed that Matthew Hayden has given his nod to be with the team for the 2022 T20 World Cup. The PCB chairman stated emphasized the importance of coaches who are familiar with the playing conditions of a big event.
Hybrid Pitches to be used in Club Cricket : Ramiz Raja
Recently, the PCB in conjunction with the Arif Habib Group announced that two drop-in-pitches will be available in Pakistan. The cost of them will be around Rs 37 Crores. Raja during the press conference also stated that 40 Hybrid pitches will be available now to the Domestic players. Hybrid pitches have 95% natural soil and the grasses are stiched onto it which prolongs its life. According to the PCB Chairman, such pitches will have a life of nearly eight years which will allow the batsman and bowlers to get used to challenging conditions.
Who is Faisal Hasnanin, the newly appointed CEO of Pakistan Cricket Board?
During the Press Conference, the PCB Chairman gave a brief introduction about the new CEO, stating that Hasnain is a chartered accountant who has previously served for the Zimbabwe Cricket Board and even for the ICC. Raja said that the likes of Hasnain will be a huge benefit for PCB as he is someone who has the crunch for the numbers.
