Abid Ali undergoes Heart Procedure, under observation


Pakistani cricketer Abid Ali recently felt chest pain and was immediately rushed to the hospital. Ali was playing in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy at the time between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Central Punjab at the UBL Sports Complex. The batsman was at 61 at the time when he felt the pain. The cricketer has now released a video where he is seen in better spirits. In the video he said, “By the grace of God, I am fine now. Request everyone to pray for me. Tomorrow also there is a minor procedure to be done”. The PCB released a statement that Abid Ali was diagnosed with the acute coronary syndrome.

It is a condition where there is a sudden reduction in the flow of blood to the heart. Due to less blood flow, there is extra pressure on the heart and persistent problems of it can be high risk. The common symptoms are chest pain and difficulty breathing which the cricketer felt at the time of batting.

According to the statement released by PCB, the cricketer has undergone angioplasty. It is a procedure where a stent is inserted into the blocked artery to allow for more blood flow. The PCB has said that the cricketer is under strict observation of a cardiologist and has requested the fans and media to respect his and their family’s privacy.
