This Indian player to retire from the Test format – Reports

It looks like speculations and controversies aren’t stopping in Indian cricket. From Ashwin’s exclusion earlier this year in the England series, and talks of rifts between the players, to the annexing of Virat Kohli from ODI captaincy to the appointment of Rohit Sharma over the captaincy, Indian cricket has witnessed a lot of major developments in the last couple of months and are now witnessing a transition in the leadership roles in the form of Dravid and Sharma duo. However, if reports are to be true then one of the key players of the Indian Test Side is mulling over retirement.

We are talking none other than Ravindra Jadeja. The left-arm spinner has been the preferred spinner over Ashwin for India in the overseas test. According to a leading publication, Jadeja’s friend told that the spinner wants to prolong his white-ball format and therefore may look to retire from the test cricket. Jadeja is unavailable for the South African test series due to an injury.

If the reports are to be true, then it would be a great loss to India. Considering that India has to play a lot of home series in tests, Jadeja would certainly be a crucial element. Jadeja has taken 232 wickets in 57 tests so far at an average of 24.85. The batsman has not also has contributed time and again with the bat but has a rocket arm in the field. India’s next assignment is the test series in South Africa. The series will start on the 26th of December and will conclude on the 15th of January.
