Under Virat, Team India learnt how to come back – Gavaskar

After thrashing Namibia comprehensively, India will exit the world cup on a high note, winning the last three of their matches. The match was also the last as a captain for Virat, an announcement which he made prior to the world cup. As the game has come to conclusion, former crickets paid tributes to Virat for his captaincy in the T20.

Sunil Gavaskar was all praise for Virat Kohli, pointing that under his leadership, Team India showed fightback in the overseas condition, especially in Australia and England where Asian teams suffer. India won a memorable test series in Australia in 2018 and 2021. While Virat was not there for the last three matches due to the birth of his daughter, India, a half-depleted side, managed to win the test series.

Shane Watson too heaped praises on Virat’s leadership, pointing that the amount of cricket India plays all year round, the men in blue have managed to accomplish some great achievements under Virat’s leadership. The same sentiment was echoed by VVS Laxman, who was speaking to the broadcaster after the India Namibia match. While India was favourite before the world cup, their campaign got off to bad start, owing to Pakistan’s good bowling. Newzealand maintained its flawless record against India in the ICC tournament as usual.
