Man of the Tournament should have been Babar : Shoaib Akhtar

Australia defeated New Zealand by 8 wickets to win the T20 World Cup in UAE. While there were a couple of contenders for the Man of the Tournament award, the committee decided to name David Warner as the man of the tournament. Terming the decision as ‘Unfair’, Shoaib believes that Babar Azam should have got the award.

Both Babar Azam and David Warner have scored prolifically in the current T20 World cup. Babar scored 303 runs at an average of 60.60 and Warner scored 289 runs at an average of 48.16. Mohammad Rizwan scored many runs and found himself at the number three position for runs scored in the tournament.

The Rawalpindi Express, who holds the record for the fastest ball in the world, expressed his displeasure at the announcement of David Warner as the Man of the tournament. He believed that the award should have gone to a Pakistani batter.

Babar Azam played some crucial knocks against the likes of India and New Zealand whereas Warner too found his rhythm and played a crucial role in winning the semi-final against Pakistan and also in the final of the World cup against Blackcaps helping Australia to win their maiden T20 World cup.
