Pak should have slowed down the momentum: Waqar Younis

Recalling the moment when Hasan Ali dropped the catch which was followed by three consecutive sixes, Waqar Younis believed that the team should have slowed down the momentum in order to regroup their thinking. The former fast bowler believed that Shaheen instead of blocking the runs went to hit hard at the stumps to get the batsman out.

Waqar said that Pakistan was in the game till Hasan Ali dropped the catch. According to Waqar, the senior members of the team should have talked to the bowler, should have slowed down the game for 3 – 4 minutes which would have allowed them to execute a better plan.

According to Wasim, Shaheen is going to be a better bowler as he is only 21 years and will become wiser from this experience. Waqar believes that the team management should back the likes of Hasan Ali as he is an asset.

Earlier, Waqar commented that while Hasan dropped a crucial catch, Shaheen should have bowled better. The sentiment was echoed by even Shaid Afridi who said that Shaheen is not the type of bowler who can go for three sixes. After the exit from the World cup, Pakistan will now resume its International Cricket against Bangladesh. The tour will start from 20th November with T20s.
