“Australia have improved throughout the tournament” – Kane Williamson

NewZealand clawed back into the game against England with some fine hitting from Daryll Mitchell and James Neesham. The victory of Australia against Pakistan was a nail-biting encounter too with the late onslaught from Matthew Wade and Marcus Stoinis. The final of ICC 2020 T20 World will be played on Sunday, 14th November 2021 at Dubai International Stadium.

Speaking to SkySports on the eve of the game, Kane Williamson reflected his thoughts on their neighbour rivals and said that the Australian Team has kept on improving throughout the tournament. Admitting that the opposition is competitive, he would love to win back to back ICC tournaments with this T20 World cup. New Zealand defeated India in the Inaugural World Test Championship in June this year.

Under Kane Williamson, the Blackcaps have achieved some significant milestones. Reaching the finals of WC 2015 and WC 2019, winning the first World Test Championship and now in the final again of the World T20. Upon being asked if the conditions have been challenging in the UAE, the Kiwi skipper admitted that adjustments were needed and that their team has been successful in doing it.

It is worth noting that both Australia and New Zealand seems to have peaked at the right time, as both teams were able to chase down a difficult target with an over to spare. The calm headed Devon Conway will be missing the finals due to the finger injury he sustained after getting out. During the virtual conference before, Williamson labelled the match as a “one-off match for us” and will look to extend their fine run in the tournament.
