Perth removed from the 5th Ashes Test, Hobart or Melbourne to host it

In a big blow that has come to the Western Australian government and Perth cricket officials, Cricket Australia has now confirmed that Perth will not host the fifth test match. The move comes in as a result of strict covid protocols set in by the Western Australian government that requires touring teams to have a 14-day mandatory quarantine for people coming from outside the state. Even the staff related to the broadcast team would have to abide by the quarantine.

“While absolutely every effort was made to ensure the final Test match of the series could be staged in Perth, border controls, quarantine requirements and the complexities of staging a five-Test series in a tight schedule have meant it is unfortunately not possible to align the respective priorities of the WA Government, CA and WA Cricket,” Cricket Australia said in a statement

The WACA ground in Perth is known for its fast-paced pitch which offers great bounce to the pacers and has been one of the favourite grounds of the Australian over the years. England has registered a no. of low totals in test matches at Perth such as 112 runs in 1998, 123 runs in 1995 and 2010, 182 runs in 1991, 185 runs in 2002, 187 runs in 2010.

Due to the recent emergence of Omicron, a variant of Covid 19, and the bad weather, there were speculations a week ago that the test match would be unable to take place in Perth. The officials of the Western Australian were adamant about hosting the fifth test match, stating a 97% chance however the WA government wasn’t ready to shorten the 14 day quarantine period for the players.

According to a report earlier, families from both sides of the team were not in favour of the two week quarantine period. The situation would also cause a lot of trouble for the logistics and broadcasting team as there is a gap of only five days between the 4th and 5th test. Hobart or Adelaide are likely to be announced as the replacement of the Perth Test match venue.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of “de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum” (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, “Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..”, comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

There are many variations of passages of Lorem Ipsum available, but the majority have suffered alteration in some form, by injected humour, or randomised words which don’t look even slightly believable. If you are going to use a passage of Lorem Ipsum, you need to be sure there isn’t anything embarrassing hidden in the middle of text. All the Lorem Ipsum generators on the Internet tend to repeat predefined chunks as necessary, making this the first true generator on the Internet. It uses a dictionary of over 200 Latin words, combined with a handful of model sentence structures, to generate Lorem Ipsum which looks reasonable. The generated Lorem Ipsum is therefore always free from repetition, injected humour, or non-characteristic words etc.
