India Vs Nz 2nd Test: When two wicket keepers caused a runout

India is on the verge of winning the 2nd Test match at the Wankhede stadium. New Zealand has been given a mission impossible target of 540 runs to win. In their 2nd innings, New Zealand has made 140 runs for the loss of 5 wickets, and they have to survive two more days of Test on a track that has caused trouble to all the batsmen in this match.

It’s very rare that we see two wicket-keepers in cricket playing in the same match. During the 36.4 over, Tom Blundell played a shot to the mid-off to Mid off to KS Bharath, the substitute fielder. Seeing there was no run, the non-striker, Daryl Mitchell sent the batsman back, who was unable to make it before Wriddhiman Saha dislodged the balls.

It is interesting to note that KS Bharat is also a wicket-keeper batsman. The BCCI shared the clip on their website, titled “When two Indian wicket-keepers affected a run-out”.

India won the toss and scored 325 runs in their 1st innings with the help of centurion Mayank Agarwal who also scored a half-century in the second innings. Ajaz Patel created history by becoming the first NewZealander to get 10 wickets in an innings and joins the likes of Jim Laker and Anil Kumble.

India currently is at the third position of the World Test Championship Cycle with 1 loss and 1 victory. The team will depart to South Africa and will play three test matches and three ODIs. The T20s which were originally planned will now be played later as the tour was rescheduled upon the request of BCCI due to the rising cases in South Africa of the Omicron variant.
