On the 30th of November 2021, the IPL teams announced their retention. Many eyes were on the Hyderabad franchise whether they will retain the likes of David Warner and Rashid Khan. While this cold war between the Sunrisers Hyderabad and David Warner was well highlighted in the public domain, fans were expecting that the Hyderabad franchise will ultimately retain the southpaw. Sunrisers Hyderabad decided to retain Kane Williamson, Abdul Samad and Umran Malik.
Warner had previously hinted that he will not be retained by the franchise. The batsman was stripped off from the captaincy and was also excluded from the playing 11 during the IPL 2021 due to non-cricketing reasons as revealed by the assistant coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad Brad Haddin.
Warner later thanked the IPL franchise and the fans and supporters. The BCCI has recently added two new teams in the IPL based out of Lucknow and Ahmedabad. Upon being asked by a fan what is he thinking about IPL, the left-hander has now replied.
David Warner is gearing up for the Ashes series against England and the first test match is about to start on the 8th of December. The batsman will be looking to erase the performances of the 2019 Ashes tour when Stuart Broad got him out 7 times, which included four ducks, however, Broad believes that Warner will be better prepared this time due to his recent performance and home conditions. The IPL Mega auction is like to take place in the second or third week of January. All the teams will be trying to get that most of their core players.
Earlier David warner’s wife had revealed that the batsman may not participate again in the Big Bash League in the future as the tournament is of longer duration and instead the batsman can choose a number of smaller leagues and find some time to spend with the family.
