According to a report by News24, the South African Government has offered the South Africa and Indian Team booster shots for minimizing the risk of infection. Covid cases in South Africa have recently exploded. Cricket South Africa have recently postponed their three domestic fixtures as a no. of players were tested positive. However, CSA clarified that bio-bubble security was not provided to the players. There were reports earlier that the BCCI may request the CSA to reschedule the tour. No official announcement has been made yet.
Team India to tour SA : Reports
Earlier, we reported that a BCCI official, on the condition of anonymity told PTI that India will tour South Africa as CSA has assured them of water-tight bio-bubble security. The tour will give CSA to balance their losses and is likely to earn a revenue of R700 million from the tour. Team India is slated to play 3 test matches, 3 ODIs, and 4 T20. The team will fly through a Chartered plane and will stay up in two hotels.
The last time India toured South Africa, they lost the test series by 2 – 0 but came back strongly and won the ODI and T20 series comfortably. Earlier this year, Australia and England postponed and canceled the SA tours respectively due to Covid.
Team India will be in quarantine for seven days, as revealed by Dr. Shuaib Manjra, their chief medical officer. The tour will start on 17th of December and will end on the 26th of January. India will then host West Indies in February.
