R Ashwin has recently surpassed Harbhajan Singh in order to become the third-highest wicket-taker for India. The finger spinner from Chennai has grabbed 419 wickets in 81 matches, 23 less than what Harbhajan took for 419 wickets.

Speaking to Cricket.com, McMillan commented that the off-spinner does not get the due credit that he deserves. According to him, R. Ashwin should be considered now as India’s best all-rounder (in Test Cricket).

In his own words, “Those numbers (Ashwin’s record) are quite remarkable and I think perhaps, Ravi Ashwin doesn’t get enough credit as not only a great spinner but as an all-rounder because he has a number of test hundreds as well. And a number of his test hundreds have come, like the one last year in England at an important time in Chennai when India were under the pump, behind in the game and Ashwin scores the hundred and turns the game and takes wicket”

Ravi Ashwin is not only a spinner but is a great all-rounder as well. He talked about Ashwin’s skills as bowling and the ability to take the team out of trouble like when he scored a century against England this year when India was under the pump.

Ashwin will be more effective in the 2nd test match against NZ at Wankhede: McMillan

The former cricketer believed that Ashwin is not only relatively young and fit but is also a great student of the game and his bowling against the kiwis will be more effective in the second test match at Wankhede as the pitch has more bounce and pace in the wicket which will make the life difficult for the NZ batsman.

A few days ago, Daniel Vettori reflected similar sentiments about the off-spinner and commented that it is surprising to see Jadeja being preferred over him time and again. Seeing his current form, the former NZ captain backed R. Ashwin to become the highest wicket-taker for India in the coming years.
