May not Play BBL again: David Warner’s Wife

It was almost three years ago that the Australians woke up to scandalous news of the sandpaper scandal. The then Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull said that “this is a shocking development. and seemed completely beyond belief that the Australian team has been involved in cheating”

Reports emerged that Steve Smith and David Warner were the main culprits and the duo received a one-year ban from playing international cricket by Cricket Australia. While Steve Smith received a 2-year ban from captaincy, Warner received a more severe punishment in the form of a lifelong ban from captaincy.

After three years, everything look settled with Australia winning their maiden T20 World cup. However, CA’s recent move has caused controversy as they appointed Steve Smith as test vice-captain in order to assist the newly appointed test captain Pat Cummins.

The move has not gone down well with former cricketer Warne who argued that David Warner is probably the best cricketing brain in the Australian team. And if the lefty is not allowed to take the captaincy role, then why Steve Smith is?

In his own words, “With Sandpapergate back in South Africa a few years ago, how can the captain be allowed to take up another leadership role where a player like David Warner, who’s probably got the best cricket brain in the team, isn’t allowed to?”

“I would’ve thought they’re either both available again, and we’ve all moved on, and we’ve put that in the past, and you can be captain or vice-captain again, or you can’t … I don’t think you can pick and choose one player or not.

Now Warner’s wife, Candice Warner has also come out in support of Warne’s backing of David Warner. Talking to 2Gb Radio, she questioned the lifelong ban on her husband who has more knowledge about the game than anyone currently on the team.

in her own words, “I would have to agree with Shane’s comments when he said that David has a fantastic cricketing brain,”

Unlikely to play Big Bash League again: Candice Warner

WArner’s wife made a big revelation that the star player may not play for BBL again, even after his international career will be over. Candice seemed upset as warner is still facing the lifelong ban from captaining the Australian side or the BBL team still while Steve Smith has been promoted for Test Vice captaincy.

In her own words, “It is disappointing because at this stage, when David decides to retire from Test cricket, he won’t play Big Bash,”

The other reason which the wife gave was the duration of the T20 tournament in Australia, which passes through Christmas also. She said that there are so many shorter leagues such as in Dubai that will allow David to be with the family.

Warner recently bid adieu to the IPL franchise SRH, with whom he had a major share of disagreement during the IPL. The star player was first stripped off from the captaincy and then was excluded even from the playing eleven. Brad Haddin, the assistant coach of the Sunrisers revealed during a podcast that the cricketer was excluded for non-cricketing reasons and that the situation was out of control for even the coaches.
