NewZealand clawed their way to victory against the English side in the T20 Semifinal. The English side looked to be in control of the match until the 16th over when James Neesham hammered Chris Jordan for more than twenty runs. Rashid came on after that over and he too went for two sixes. The match was evenly poised when Chris Woakes came to bowl the 19th over. Daryl Mitchell’s two huge sixes meant that the game had gone completely to the Kiwi’s side.
Hailing the performance of the BlackCaps, the former Pakistani fast bowler believed that the toss was crucial and the NZ team was at an advantage while chasing. He also believed that the loss of England was due to ‘Karma’. The king of sultan was hinting at the incident when the English team decided to opt-out of the Pakistan tour before the world cup due to security reasons.
Waseem was surprised that England didn’t bowl Moeen, especially against the left-hander Conway. On Jordan bowling one of the expensive spells of his career, Waseem believed that the dew factor came into play which makes it difficult for the bowler to grip the ball and bowl accurately. The former captain also praised the NZ bowlers who didn’t allow the English openers their usual brisk start.
Morgan should have come at the place Moeen: Waqar Younis
Known for the banana swing, Waqar Younis pointed the biggest flaw according to him which was not sending Morgan. Citing the admission for Morgan in his post-match presentation that they are mainly a six-hitting side, Waqar Younis believed that England missed a trick by not sending Morgan to bat instead of Moeen Ali.
