After a nail-biting semi-final encounter, where New Zealand outclassed their opponents in the last four overs of the game, Eoin Morgan said that he cannot find a fault that could have been avoided tonight.

The match was heavily in England’s favour till the sixteenth over until Jimmy Neesham played a fearless counter-attack on one of the fastest bowlers of England, Chris Jordan. Morgan praised the Kiwis after their victory and credited them for outclassing them in the semi-final.

I think I’m still offering enough within the side: Eoin Morgan

Upon being asked if he would like to continue captaining the England side, the English captain said that he believes to be an important contributor to the team as of now and hope to remain the captain.

England captain echoed his sentiments that both the teams were at par with each other in skills and are known to play a great brand of cricket. Morgan gave full credits to the Blackcaps side for their win. “They outplayed us today,” Morgan said.

The toss was won by Newzealand and they put the Englishmen to bat. NewZealand at one stage looked to crumble with Guptill and Williamson went to Pavillion at seventeen but Darryl Mitchell and Conway played an inning building partnership and put the run chase back on course for the side. Darryl Mitchell played a crucial knock under pressure and ended up smashing two sixes and four of Chris Woake’s second last over which took them to victory.

“Held them at bay until the 17th, 18th over”

With almost sixty needed from the last five overs, NewZealand was losing the grip on the game as Livingstone hurried through his four overs with a praiseworthy economy. James Neesham came in and had no choice but to attack Chris Jordan and the shots and one heavy over, therefore came on the 17th over.

Conditions didn’t suited us: Morgan

Morgan admitted that the team is more of a six-hitting side however, the playing conditions didn’t suit their style of playing. Stating the wicket as “two-paced”, the England captain was happy at the score that the team managed to post. Morgan admired the six-hitting ability from ball one of James Neesham and elaborated that it is not something that many people can do. The captain admitted that his late onslaught pretty much swung the pendulum of the game to New Zealand.
